Absalom Jones Service
A service commemorating the life of Absalom Jones, the Episcopal Church's first African American priest, will take place on Sunday, February 15th at 4 PM.
Sponsored by the Wilma Ruth Combs Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians and the Diocese of Ohio, the service will be hosted at St. Andrew's, Cleveland where the Rev. Himie-Budu Shannon serves as Rector.
Celebrating this service will be the Rt. Rev. Arthur B. Williams, Jr., Assisting Bishop of Ohio. The Rev. Dr. Harold Lewis, Interim Rector of St. Paul's, Cleveland Heights, will be preaching at the service.
Bishop Mark Hollingsworth will install newly elected officers.
The Absalom Jones Celebration Choir will be directed by Lawrence Hill.
A festive reception will follow the service, to which ALL are invited.
