Kirkin' of the Tartans at St. Bartholomew, Mayfield Village

Mark your calendar for the 10:30 am service on November 11 at St. Bartholomew, Mayfield Village! The Scottish Heritage Association of Northern Ohio (SHANO), in conjunction with St. Bartholomew, will host SHANO's annual Kirkin' of the Tartans, a time-honored Scottish tradition in which Scots, people of Scottish heritage, and people who simply love Scotland bring a piece of tartan to church for presentation and blessing during the service. The service will include prayers typically read during a Kirkin' as well as bagpipe music together with the usual Great Thanksgiving and Eucharist.

Following the service, there will be a ceilidh (party) in the parish hall that will feature Highland dancers, bagpipers, and a drummer. Refreshments including traditional Scottish pastries are included. In addition, there will be a collection of new, comfort-sized fleece throws to be donated to the GriefCare Centers throughout Northeast Ohio. Any donation of the type will be appreciated.

Please join us for a unique, colorful, and rich worship experience! There is no charge, although a free will offering will be welcomed. St. Bartholomew Church is located at 435 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Village, OH 44143. For more information about the service or to make arrangements to attend and bring a tartan for blessing, please contact Liz Duncan at 216-481-2476; or Dorothea Kingsbury at 216-464-1116 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
