Riding Backwards Bicycles: Practical Ways to Join God's Work

God is doing a new thing and the local church is invited to join in! We know we need to learn some new ways of being the church in the 21st century and we're not always sure how to do that. Join us for this important practical training on how to join the work God is doing in your everyday life and the life of your congregation.
Michael Binder is the Pastor of Teaching and Vision at Mill City Church in Northeast Minneapolis. Mill City Church is a new church development that is nine years old, with a focus on neighborhood ministry.
Michael is also currently at work with Dwight Zscheile leading dioceses, synods, and congregations across the country in a process called Faithful Innovation Learning Communities. This process helps congregation members and leaders develop deeper connections with God, each other, and their neighbors through practices of action/reflection involving listening, discernment, and small experiments. Our conference will bring some of that work to The Diocese of Ohio.
Michael completed his dissertation in a PhD program at Luther Seminary in 2017. His doctoral research focused on the revitalization of regional church denominations through partnership with God in neighborhoods. His recent writing includes "Participation is the New Excellence" and "Failing Them Softly," published in Leadership Journal and Christianity Today. Michael has been consulting with churches and denominations for the last five years. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife and three kids.
Registration fee: $25 per Person or $10 each for a team of four or more from the same congregation. Lunch is included.
