St. Peter, Ashtabula’s Fine Arts Series, Great Music Without Barriers, presents Duo Beaux Arts in concert on March 1 at 2:00 p.m. This program explores the piano's vast emotional spectrum, ranging from intimate introspection to exhilarating virtuosity. It includes Claude Debussy’s iconic Clair de lune, a masterclass in Impressionism, painting a delicate musical picture of moonlight through shimmering harmonies. Shifting to the passionate world of Astor Piazzolla to explore a selection of his tangos, which infuses traditional Argentinian dance with modern, edgy intensity, jazz elements, and profound melancholy. The center of the program features Franz Schubert’s masterful Fantasy in F minor for Piano Four Hands, D 940. Composed in his final year, this intimate duet acts as a "symphony for piano," taking listeners on a journey from wistful, haunting melodies to a powerful, complex concluding fugue. Finally, the program concludes with the virtuosic, high-energy Blue Danube Fantasy by Strauss Jr, arranged by Greg Anderson. This breathtaking rearrangement reimagines the famous waltz, taking the elegant Viennese dance and propelling it into a thrilling, modern showpiece for one-piano, four-hands. All concerts are free and open to the public followed by a Meet-the-Artists reception.
