The 207th Annual Diocesan Convention will be held November 10-11, 2023 in Wooster, Ohio.

Friday, November 10

• 5:30 p.m. - Convention Eucharist at the First Presbyterian Church
• 7:30 p.m. - Banquet at Greystone Event Center

Saturday, November 11

• All convention business and the Episcopal Address at Greystone Event Center
• 7:45 a.m. - Registration opens
• 8:15 a.m. - Delegate Orientation
• 9:00 a.m. - Convention convenes

Below are a few reminders and updates about Convention on November 10-11:

• Convention Eucharist will be held at 5:30 p.m. on November 10 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wooster. This event is free.
• A banquet will be held at 7:30 p.m. on November 10 at Greystone Event Center. This event is $25 per person and registration is required.
• Convention business will begin at 9:00 a.m. on November 11 at Greystone Event Center. Convention registration will open at 7:45 a.m. A new delegate orientation will be held at 8:15 a.m. The cost for Convention is $38 per person and registration is required.
• Registration for Convention is an online form that needs to be completed by or for anyone that plans to attend and must be submitted by October 20. 
• The Certification of Delegates is an online form that must be completed, signed, and submitted by the parish Clerk by October 27 and is a canonical requirement to certify the elected lay individuals representing the parish. Please note that these are two separate forms and they must be completed by their respective deadlines.
• We are pleased to offer a new app for this year’s Convention called Guidebook. To use the app, download the Guidebook app, and search for dohio. Once downloaded, you will be able to view information such as the handbook, nominations, an interactive map, and flyers. We recommend downloading the app prior to the day of Convention.
• Continuing our commitment to sustainability and fiscal stewardship, the convention handbook will be available on the diocesan website in both PDF and EPUB formats by mid-October. Once available, the link will be emailed in the diocesan weekly email. A limited number of printed copies will be on each table at Convention. Those who prefer a paper copy are advised to print the handbook beforehand. The various sections of the handbook will be available individually on the website to easily allow printing by section/topic (for example: the budget, nominations, etc.). The handbook, as mentioned above, is also available on the app. 
• Lay pension reporting forms are available now on the diocesan website in the Finance section. The canonical deadline for filing is October 1 and is one of the parish compliance requirements for lay delegates to have voting privileges at Convention. Any questions can be directed to Christina Butterfield, Chief Financial Officer, by email or 216.774.0450.

What is the Annual Convention?

The Annual Convention of the Diocese of Ohio is the legislative body that approves the diocesan program and budget, elects persons to various groups, which serve the diocese, adopts resolutions on various issues, and approves changes in the Constitution and Canons of the diocese.

Each congregation in union with the convention, that is, those that are current with payment of diocesan assessments and Church pension requirements, is entitled to be represented by not more than three lay adult delegates in good standing in their respective congregations. Delegates are chosen in accordance with the prescribed Canon, or by special parochial charter or bylaws of the parish. When not a virtual convention, attendance at Annual Convention is not limited to lay delegates and clergy. Youth and adult members of all congregations are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The Diocese of Ohio Annual Convention is held once per year, usually the second weekend in November.
