Christ Church, Huron hold an All Hallows Eve Celebration as a Halloween alternative every year. For three weeks before Halloween, white crosses labeled as saints are put on the sidewalk along with information on each of the saints. On October 31, instead of trick-or-treating, the parish offers hot dogs and popcorn and they invite attendees into the sanctuary. Parishioners dress up as their favorite saint and a prayer board is available. While this event is a form of outreach, it is also very much focused on inviting people into the church space. The evening is an opportunity for attendees to reflect on celebrating the saints and bringing their loved ones before the Lord. When the program started five years ago, there were a handful of attendees. This year, more than 350 people showed up to partake in the celebration, with several mentioning that it’s their favorite stop on the Halloween circuit in Huron because of what the parish offers.
