Christ Church, Warren held a community intergenerational dance on June 16. The dance served as an end to Vacation Bible School and focused on a children’s dance for an hour before the other musical acts went on. While this dance is the first of its kind in recent years, these opportunities were routine at Christ Church in the late 1960s and into the 1970s. Historically they featured many of the top bands in the area, including future inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. One of the night’s performers, Doug Thomas, approached Paul Keriotis, Director of Spiritual Formation, about hosting a reunion dance. Thomas grew up in the Christ Church youth group and frequented the original dances. When the dances originated the admission fee benefited the youth group’s mission trip to Nicaragua. This year, the $10 admission fee, which included soft drinks and snacks, benefitted the Warren Rescue Mission. With this summer’s event being a success, another dance will be held on November 3.
