Convention Recap

The 206th Annual Convention was held on November 18 and 19. The weekend began with Eucharist at Trinity Cathedral, Cleveland where more than 250 members of the Diocese, including 60 clergy, attended. The Rt. Rev. Prince G. Singh, Bishop Provisional of the Dioceses of Eastern and Western Michigan, gave the sermon.

On Saturday morning more than 300 members of the Diocese gathered to conduct the necessary business of Convention. The day included the election for Bishop-Coadjutor, the Episcopal Address, a Bellwether Farm video, a report from Trinity Cathedral, the presentation and approval of the 2023 budget, and elections for the offices of Trustee of the Diocese, Standing Committee, Diocesan Council, Episcopal Community Services (ECS) Development Council, Deputies to General Convention, Treasurer, and the Secretary to Convention.

During the Saturday business session Bishop Singh served as chaplain. As part of the Bishop Coadjutor election, he led the attendees in prayer, reflection, and hymns before each election. The Rev. Anne B. Jolly was elected Bishop Coadjutor-elect on the second ballot after receiving a majority in both the clergy and lay orders.

During the Bishop’s Episcopal Address, he recognized the “Cottage of Bishops,” thanking the Rt. Revs. Williams Persell, Arthur Williams, and David Bowman, as well as their spouses Nancy Persell, Lynette Williams, and Nancy Bowman, for their years of companionship and service. Bishop Hollingsworth also honored Patricia Patton by awarding her with The Bishop’s Medal.
