St. Paul’s, Oregon provides weekly meals to members of the community through the program Rita’s Soup. The ministry began when Quinn McDougle wanted to honor his mom, Rita, who always made sure everyone sat down for a meal. The idea had to be put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the unfortunate news of Rita being diagnosed with cancer and entering hospice. The program officially began on March 20, 2021, and served more than 40 people and delivered more than 75 servings of soup to senior living centers. Since then, the program has grown to serve more than 400 meals each month. The program also partners with three other local parishes to bring soup to the homebound members. If you are interested in volunteering or learning more, reach out to St. Paul’s or the Rita’s Soup Facebook page.
