Diversity has always been a cornerstone of the Van Aken District’s Christ Episcopal Church, which will be celebrating its 150th anniversary on All Saints Day (Friday, Nov. 1).
The church has its origins near what is now the Main Post Office in downtown Cleveland, when it was established in 1869 by Rev. J.W.C. Duerr to serve the needs of a growing number of immigrants from Germany streaming into the city to work in the knitting mills.
