Dear Ones,
In this season after the Epiphany, where we especially recognize the ways in which God is present in our lives and the world, I want to share some exciting news about how our staff is expanding. Ms. Iasmina Tranca, Ms. Sara Schimelpfenig, and the Rev. Audra Abt have been hired to the Bishop’s Staff, and Mr. Steve Rumage has joined us as the Interim Executive Director for Bellwether Farm.
Iasmina joined our staff in November as an accountant for the diocese, focusing on parish support. She has been working in accounting for the past three years. She recently graduated with her Associate Degree and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Southern New Hampshire University. We believe having parish support as a primary function of her ministry description will help us as we further align our priorities towards serving all of you in your mission to share God’s love in your communities.
Sara will be joining us this month as the diocesan Administrative Specialist. She will provide logistical and administrative support for diocesan events and Safe Church programs as well as coordinate Fresh Start for new clergy. With a rich background, and more than 20 years of experience as an administrative assistant at Baldwin Wallace University, Case Western Reserve University, and Cleveland State University, Sara brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this role.
Audra has accepted our invitation to serve as our Canon for Innovation and Congregational Development. She will be joining us from Greensboro, NC where she serves both a congregation and a "faith-based community organization focused on health access, healing, worship, and loving service." In her position as Canon, she will help spark our imaginations and curiosity about how we'll do church differently and help us in the crucial work of launching the College for Congregational Development. Although Audra will start in this role officially on March 19, she will be joining us in advance at this year’s Winter Convocation, February 2-3. If you see her at Kalahari, be sure to welcome her to the diocese and introduce yourselves.
I’m also thrilled to share that Steve Rumage agreed to join us as the Interim Executive Director for Bellwether Farm. Steve most recently served as the Executive Director for the Episcopal Conference Center Oakhurst in the Diocese of San Joaquin from 2016 until he retired in June 2022. Steve has been working with camp and conference centers for nearly 20 years. He is an expert in this field and came to us very highly recommended. He started at Bellwether on January 8. I look forward to our ministry together through the transition to hire a full-time Executive Director.
We hope you join us in welcoming Iasmina, Sara, Audra, and Steve to our diocesan staff. I am grateful for each of you and your prayers as we continue to build our foundation and work to fulfill our vision for the Diocese of Ohio together.
God’s Peace,
+Anne
