Executive Assistant to the Bishop - Episcopal Diocese of Ohio

Seeking an executive assistant role that serves as a trusted advisor, does meaningful work that positively impacts an entire diocese, and has opportunities to grow in a fast-paced environment? The Executive Assistant (EA) serves as a strategic partner and intentional and proactive support for the Bishop to help advance the mission and vision of the Diocese. The EA serves as the primary point of contact for those seeking to connect with the Bishop as well as provides complex calendar management including parish visitations and all travel. In this way, the EA also supports the scheduling of the Canon to the Ordinary as the Bishop and the Canon often work synchronously. The EA serves as a pastoral presence and practices a ministry of hospitality in the office, organizing and coordinating correspondence, and event planning.

The ideal candidate has significant experience in a high-level executive support role, impressive attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and hospitality skills. They have demonstrated experience holding the highest level of confidentiality and serving as a strategic thinker, planner, and partner in a complex, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

The essential functions of the role include:

• High-level strategy and coordination with the bishop, including management of the complex calendar.
• Partnership integration between the bishop and the canon to the ordinary.
• Travel management, including but not limited to congregational visits, general travel in the diocese, and diocesan or national church business.
• Front office management of all incoming communication and requests (calls, emails, etc.), including prioritization of escalation and timing.

Qualifications

A candidate should have

• A high school diploma or GED, with post-secondary education preferred
• Five or more years of experience in a high-level administrative role
• A proven ability to develop systems to manage high-volume, complex problems
• Advanced communications skills, including written, spoken, and interpersonal
