October 7, 10:00am - October 8, 11:30am
A rule of life is a set of guidelines and commitments directing one's life. The first models are from monastics like St. Augustine and St. Benedict, whose lives were “ruled” by practices like daily prayer and meditation, study (such as reading the Bible), and acts of charity. This retreat will help you reflect, evaluate, and set intentions for what your life is grounded in and ruled by, especially as you settle into the rhythms of the school year and this season.
We’ll gather at 10am on Saturday October 7 at St. Paul’s Canton. The day will consist of connecting with others, Scripture, reflection activities, and creating our own Rules of Life in creative ways. Singing, worship, games, and maybe even some dancing are also on the agenda! We will spend the night in the church and worship with the congregation on Sunday at 10:30. Families and friends are invited to join the service, after which is departure.
If you’ve never attended a Diocesan youth retreat, it’s ok to be nervous! Retreats like this one are meant to bring young people from around the region together, in part as a reminder that they are not alone. Most people come to their first event not knowing anyone, and leave a day later with lots of friends. If you’d be more comfortable bringing a friend (from church or not!) please do so!
