Organist/Pianist - Christ Church, Kent

Job details

Salary: $8000 annually

Job Type: Part time

Christ Episcopal Church is seeking a part-time organist and pianist to accompany our choir at 10:00 a.m. Sunday services. Job responsibilities:

  • Rehearse with choir one hour prior to beginning of 10 a.m. service

  • Rehearse with choir one evening per week

  • Accompany hymns and music selections for Sunday worship

  • Participate in quarterly music ministry committee meetings

  • Participate in monthly meeting with pastor

  • Opportunity to play for special occasions such as weddings and funerals, with additional compensation from families

  • Time commitment is less than 6 hours weekly, plus meetings

  • Opportunity to grow into music ministry leadership

Instruments available at Christ Episcopal Church include:

  • 3 manual, 45 rank Allen Digital Computer Organ installed in the early 2000's and voiced to meet the size and acoustics of the church. In addition to the 45 ranks, there are additional ranks of pipes available through a library of midi ranks accessible on each manual and the pedal. The organ is also equipped with a recording system that will record and playback, with exact replication, any music or available sounds the organist wishes to record on the organ recording sequencer. Combination piston presets are available for each manual and the pedal.

  • Steinway studio piano in the sanctuary in excellent condition.

Qualifications

  • Advanced competency in playing organ and piano.

  • High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Experience in church music preferred.

  • Advanced competencies in working with volunteers.

  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Complete sexual misconduct training and periodic recertification required by Diocese of Ohio and maintains appropriate boundaries.

  • Maintain current vaccination against COVID-19 and provide documentation of same to parish administration.

  • Pass criminal background check.
