At Convention, Bishop Jolly shared that our Rhythms of Gathering discernment, together with our shared desire for greater connectivity, deeper formation, and stronger support for ministry across the Diocese of Ohio, led us to launch Regional Gatherings beginning in 2026.
Our first Regional Gathering took place in the Akron/Canton region from May 28–30, 2026. The event was held at three parishes: Thursday at St. Paul’s, Akron; Friday at St. Paul’s, Canton; and Saturday at Christ Church, Hudson. Participants were invited to attend the entire gathering or join one or two sessions. Another Regional Gathering will be held in a new location in 2027.
The 2026 Regional Gathering was a three-day experience designed to strengthen the life of our faith communities. Through worship, shared meals, and practical workshops, people of all ages gathered for formation and renewal. With a regional confirmation at its heart, the gathering brought together learning, community, and joy to deepen our shared life across the Diocese of Ohio.
The gathering included teaching and practical tools from the College for Congregational Development (CCD) to equip congregations to become more faithful, healthy, effective, and sustainable; opportunities for worship, prayer, and connection; training, tools, and support for those serving in a variety of ministry roles; a celebration of Holy Eucharist with regional confirmation; and time to meet with members of the Bishop’s staff, both individually and in groups.
Workshops for the event were available to participants, and suggested hotel accommodations were provided for those who chose to travel for the gathering. Childcare was available on Thursday evening and all day Saturday, with additional childcare provided on an as-needed basis through registration.
We are grateful for the ways this Regional Gathering strengthened diocesan connections and supported the ministry happening across the region. Thank you to all who attended, participated, hosted, volunteered, and helped make this collaborative and uplifting experience possible.
