Dear Siblings in Christ,
One of the greatest challenges of discipleship is that we cannot always see what God is doing.
We devote ourselves to the people and ministries we know and love. We grow accustomed to familiar patterns of church life. Yet the Holy Spirit draws our attention outward—toward neighbors we have not yet met, gifts we have not yet recognized, relationships waiting to be formed, and possibilities we have not yet imagined.
How might God be widening our vision?
This question lies at the heart of our Convention theme, Faith Development in Community.
As the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio, we have committed ourselves to becoming:
Connected in Beloved Community,
seeking to be faithful, healthy, effective, and sustainable sharers
of the transformative love of Jesus.
We believe that God forms disciples in community and that, as we grow in faith together, our capacity to love, to listen, and to see expands. That formation prepares us not simply to strengthen our own faith communities, but to join in what God is already doing beyond them—in neighborhoods, relationships, and everyday places where people are longing for hope, purpose, and belonging.
We hope this year's Convention will help us practice this expansive way of seeing. Convention will begin on Friday afternoon, creating additional space for learning, conversation, and reflection before our sessions on Saturday. We are honored to welcome the Rev. Dr. Dwight Zscheile as our keynote speaker, whose work on missional leadership and the Church's participation in God's mission will help frame our conversations.

The 210th Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio will be held November 20–21, 2026, at Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron, Ohio. Friday programming will begin at 1:00 p.m. and the gathering will conclude by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Registration will open in September.
There are many ways to share in the life of the Diocese of Ohio. While elected delegates have particular responsibilities in the legislative work of Convention, we hope members of every faith community will join us. Our Convention website is updated regularly with key deadlines, opportunities to discern diocesan leadership, and information about participating in our legislative life together, including submitting resolutions and amendments to the Constitution and Canons.
Between now and November, we invite you to practice this way of seeing. How is God widening your field of vision? Where have you encountered Christ in an unexpected place? What has surprised you?
In the weeks leading up to Convention, we'll be sharing those stories together, because our gathering begins long before we arrive at Sawmill Creek. We look forward to seeing you in November as we worship, learn, and discern together what God is calling us to become—and where God is already at work in the world around us.
